Artisan Training

For a couple of weeks in April I took off my tourism hat and put back on my handcraft one. Since I was already in Ethiopia, Aid to Artisans asked me to help them out with their Market Readiness Training Programs in Awassa and Ziway. It was a blast to meet all the artisans and get to know their skills and knowledge more. Martha, the ESTA Handcraft Specialist, and I did 2 five day trainings which completely exhausted us. The artisans in the Southern Rift Valley are quite the party animals as well and loved to dance given any opportunity. So at every tea and lunch break they broke out the music and started to dance.
