Lepis Hiking & Horse Back Riding Trail Development
This week the team of GW International Development students and I have been working with the Lepis community on developing two ecotourism businesses. The first one is a hiking and horseback riding trail through the natural forest areas in the community. We worked yesterday and today on helping the community identify this as one of their main tourism products and specifically selecting the trails they want to include. On the trails tourists will be able to see a stunning waterfall (some pictures in the video posts below) and a wide range of wildlife including leopards, hyenas, wild pigs, mountain nyalas, bushbacks and monkeys, as well as birds galore!
Tomorrow the team will hike on of the trails to assess the feasibility of camping along it as well as what needs to be done in order to ready it for tourists. Look for pictures soon!
